Home Safety Action Team
The Home Safety Action Team strives to educate the community about ways to reduce the risk falls, unintentional injuries in the home and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and other sleep-related infant deaths. SIDS is the sudden and unexplained death during sleep of a seemingly well infant younger than 12 months of age. In California, approximately 200 infants die of SIDS each year. While the number of SIDS deaths has dramatically decreased in the U.S. since promotion of the "Back to Sleep" campaign in 1994, the number of SIDS deaths in the state has begun to rise in recent years. The Home Safety Action Team works with local clinics and the County of Sonoma to provide cribs to low-income mothers.
